It is heartbreaking to think of a young family working hard, doing everything right, and still being unable to afford rent, let alone save for a home. It is equally heartbreaking to see longtime residents and those living on fixed incomes struggle to remain in the homes and community they love because the cost of living continues to outpace their ability to keep up.

Affordable housing is about more than buildings—it is about opportunity, stability, and preserving the diverse community that makes Erie special. We need thoughtful, balanced solutions that expand housing opportunities while maintaining the character and quality of life that residents value.

If elected, I will support policies that encourage attainable housing for working families, protect vulnerable residents whenever possible, and ensure that Erie remains a community where people at every stage of life can build a future. I have been clear in my position on oil and gas development in Erie. I opposed the Draco project, and I opposed the sale of our community’s mineral rights because I believe the long-term health, safety, and quality of life of our residents must always come before short-term financial gain.

While oil and gas development has contributed to our local economy, no amount of revenue should outweigh the responsibility to protect the people who live here. Public health and safety must always be our highest priority.

If elected, I will advocate for transparency, strong oversight, and accountability. Oil and gas operators must meet the highest standards for protecting our air and water, comply with all environmental and safety regulations, and be held responsible for cleaning up after themselves—including properly plugging abandoned wells and restoring sites when operations end.
